A little color to head into THREE. I could write about my wild child all day, but instead I’ll just share my instagram blurb about my thoughts on her on her third birthday.
“What a hectic but fantastic weekend we just had. Both my best friend and first born had birthdays yesterday and we celebrated them all weekend, along with family and friends from all over. With all the activity, it really just hit me today that my baby girl is THREE. No longer a toddler, she’s a thriving, smart little girl. She is so many things- gentle, thoughtful, coordinated and clumsy, strong-willed and mostly obedient. Well-mannered, defiant, independent, and clingy. Hilarious. Loved. Some days I hang my head in pure defeat but her morning hugs make me whole again. What an enormous blessing her three years have been to me. Happy birthday, my princess. You are the reason for everything I do. (Including…wine.) I love you most. Mom”
I have decided I should probably start planning her 4th birthday party next week because for the 2nd year in a row, March 9th really snuck up on me. After finally deciding there was no way I was pulling together a party on my own for this one, I called the wonderful team at Farmhouse in the City in Roswell, GA and like magic, they took care of the rest. Aside from bringing coffee and bagels for the adults the morning of the party, I didn’t lift a finger after I created the Paperless Post invitation 2 weeks ago. It was a dream come true.
Once we decided on our favorite pre-determined “theme”, they did the rest…including ordering these delicious cupcakes and topping them off with precious toppers.
The kiddos moved around from room to room…their excitement was palpable. They started by completely ransacking a dress-up room and came out in fairy wings, Darth Vader costumes, and princess dresses. They mingled through the rooms and visited with fluffy bunnies, a few turtles, and had their faces painted. The kiddos were lead outside the quaint little house where they got to feed chickens and roosters, and take turns gently holding a giant fluffy rabbit. After that, they were ushered into the art room where they got to create colorful masterpieces to take home.
They sang happy birthday to the birthday girl, got to “clean up” a candy-covered floor, and we came home with nothing to clean up. It was a beautiful thing and I was so impressed with the whole idea.
We came home to open gifts with the grandparents and ended the afternoon with a tea party (and maybe a sugar-induced tantrum or two.)
We love this little girl to pieces and can’t wait to see what her fourth year of life brings.
