I mentioned last week just how incredible my time at Jenny Cruger’s photography workshop was.  I mentioned the ah-ha moment that I had while shooting the outdoor mother and baby session but I had so many more crucial take-aways from my experience that weekend.  I thrive on consistency…at least in my professional life.  Artistically, I love when colors, textures, and moods work synonymously.  If I could (read: if my husband would agree to it) paint every room in my house the same shade of gray, and sprinkle bits of slate blue, white, and cream all over the place, I would do it in a split second.  (I have a slight addiction to lamps, vases, pillows, and throws…it’s a problem really and I’m NOT working on it.)  Unfortunately I’ve already painted almost every room in my house at least  twice and he refuses to let me change my mind yet again…and with two large breed dogs and a toddler, white is rarely the wisest choice.  I learned that lesson with my white tufted ottoman.  Womp womp.  Therefore, I allow myself to channel this obsession into my work!  When clients tell me they like tone-on-tone, texture, and natural imagery, my heart sings!

I learned just how much I love the color white.  (Did I mention I love white?)  Especially wrapped around a sweet baby.  I learned how much I love texture…sprinkled all over the place.  And finally, I learned how important keeping things simple is.  Less truly is more.  And Marlowe here, was just perfect for her newborn session in Jenny’s studio.  She was cozy and warm in fluffy shades of white and cream and she was perfectly content in her mama’s nurturing arms.

The great thing about this session?  Because it was 100% baby-led and photographed with everyone’s unique perspectives, a session in your own home can have this same look and feel.  We’ll just let your baby (and not the props) be our guide!
