When Summer’s mom contacted me about taking her newborn pictures and said “we love natural {newborn} photos…anything that doesn’t look too posed is perfect” I might have squealed with joy.  The past few months have taken me on a journey to really discover what it is that I love about photographing newborns.  I have realized that to me, it’s not about how many poses I can curl babies into or even how cute the tiny headbands look on them.  Instead, it is the way the light falls across their tiny faces and highlights everything you love about them.  Their soft cheeks, their button noses, their pouty (or perfectly thin!) lips.  My recent sessions have had a different flow to them and it’s all about letting the baby lead the session – let their arms fall where they are most comfortable, let their legs curl up into their bellies if they want to, or stretch out as far as they can reach.  Summer’s session was a perfect example.  I can’t wait to finish her gallery!
